Synthesize

It all starts with an in depth look at the whole system.  Whether it's interviews, observation, or experiencing it myself, every exploration begins with understanding the problems and needs.

Ideate

Creativity and innovation come from quantity more than quality.  Sometimes the great ideas are hiding behind the enticing ones; don't get stuck!

Refine

A designer can make a divergent exploration to infinity but it takes conscious decisions to clarify and move forward.  Working out the details and giving a breath of reality helps others see the value in an idea.

Realize

This is where design really comes to life.  Moving flexibly from physical models to CAD further develops and refines the concept while forcing the designer to solve the problems a sketch doesn't always find.
